Happy Thanksgiving Faraway Filers!
I love this grateful holiday even though I am not American. It seems mercifully free from consumerism and more focused on spending time with the people you care about the most. I hope everyone celebrating today enjoys this special time.
This week also marks the anniversary of our return to Australia. Phew, that went quickly! Life in London was definitely a different pace. We have slowed the travel right down (for now) from almost monthly trips out of the UK. But plans are definitely afoot for future adventures. Next stop Hawaii!
For now, I am focused on rediscovering my hometown and uncovering some of its newer attractions.
Thanks to everyone who joined our 100th Faraway Files link up (wow!) hosted by Hilary:
Her favourites were:
- One Day in Nashville Tennessee – Albom Adventures
- Light Festivals in the Netherlands You Have to Experience – Your Dutch Guide
- How to Remember the Great War – This Postcard Life
- Noma, Probably the Best Restaurant in the World – Absolutely Fabulous
If you know anything about my home town, know this. We take our laneways and city bars as seriously as we take our coffee. And that is at a VERY high level of intensity.
As a lover of cocktails and socialising over a glass of wine or two, my recent adventures in Melbourne have been all about exploring our hidden bars. Because, in our city, you get extra street cred points if you choose to meet up in a bar that’s hard to find. If it’s down a laneway adorned with street art then you’ve hit the jackpot!

About Faraway Files
Faraway Files is a weekly travel link up hosted by Katy from Untold Morsels, Erin from Oregon Girl around the World, Clare from Suitcases and Sandcastles, Corey from Fifi+Hop and Hilary from HilaryStyle
Faraway Files is a weekly file of the best travel ideas on the web. We want to dream of faraway places, make new travel plans and share our travel secrets.
Inspire us to travel to new places or revisit a place we thought we knew. We know that you can feel faraway even when you’re close to home so share your experiences of travels near and far wherever you are in the world.
We’d love you to join us in building a supportive community who will inspire and share each other’s posts. All three hosts will try to read and comment on every post and we’ll share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favourites and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.
How it works
✪ The link up will go live every Thursday at 8am, UK time, until midnight on Friday. It will alternate between Untold Morsels, Suitcases and Sandcastles, Oregon Girl Around the World, HilaryStyle and FiFi+Hop.
✪ This week I’m hosting the linkup so add a travel-related post in the section below, then add the Faraway Files badge available below to your blog or link back to the hosts.
✪ Link ups work best if everyone shares so please comment on the hosts’ posts and at least one other.
