Faraway Files #12

Faraway Files #12

Happy New Year and greetings from Down Under where I am spending some time catching up with family and friends under the Australian sun on the Great Ocean Road. I have enjoyed the time switching off from social media and other commitments but now I am starting to get the itch to plan new adventures and hear what everyone has in store for 2017.

There were plenty of ideas to fuel our wanderlust on our last Faraway Files for 2016. These were some of my favourites.

Having spent half a day discovering London’s street art scene earlier in the year, I enjoyed reading Hilary’s post on graffiti in Lisbon and am intrigued to learn more about the Graffiti Grannies.

The mystical landscapes of Northern Ireland featured in two very different posts that made my top 3 for the week. Jonny from The adventures of Daisy the bus and family got out a map to plan their adventures in Connemara and avoided the crowds. Read – Cartography in Connemara.  You can’t help but be inspired by Danielle from Boots not Roots photos of the area but this week she shared her tips on planning an amazing roadtrip of Northern Ireland.

London afternoon tea with a view

This week I am sharing a unique London experience I had in December. A good friend and I visited London’s Houses of Parliament for afternoon tea and a tour of one of the world’s most iconic buildings. Exploring the history and traditions of perhaps the most influential political systems was one of my highlights of 2016 and I recommend the experience to all visitors to London.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and peaceful 2017 with lots of adventures and looking forward to reading all about them each week on #FarawayFiles

About Faraway Files

Faraway Files is a weekly travel link up hosted by Katy from Untold Morsels, Erin from Oregon Girl around the World and Clare from Suitcases and Sandcastles.

Faraway Files is a weekly file of the best travel ideas on the web. We want to dream of faraway places, make new travel plans and share our travel secrets. Inspire us to travel to new places or revisit a place we thought we knew. We know that you can feel faraway even when you’re close to home so share your experiences of travels near and far wherever you are in the world.

We’d love you to join us in building a supportive community who will inspire and share each other’s posts. All three hosts will try to read and comment on every post and we’ll share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favourites and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.

Happy New Year! I’m so happy you enjoyed my post about Lisbon’s graffiti culture! I loved reading about London’s street art scene and although I also love to hunt out street art on my own I definitely plan to check out one of the tours you mentioned on my next visit. #farawayfiles
