The weather is a funny thing. It can make or break your travels.
As I write, it’s snowing in London. Here in Melbourne, temperatures are well over 30 degrees (centigrade) at this time of year. Sometimes it gets to a sweltering 40+ and that’s when the air-conditioning definitely goes on.
I don’t really like travelling in either of those conditions.
We like to travel during the shoulder season to avoid temperature extremes (and crowds if I’m honest). That strategy paid off beautifully in Scandinavia and Sicily last year where, for the most part, we enjoyed bright sunny days.
But the best place for guaranteed sunshine in Europe is southern Spain where the rain stays away most days of the year.
More about that in a minute.
Thanks to everyone who joined our Faraway Files link up last week hosted by Clare and Hilary. Their favourites were:
We had a wonderful time in Andalucia in November last year. Sunshine and clear skies meant our activities were outdoors and fun.
In Ronda we enjoyed wandering the streets, walking to the gorge and the countless outdoor dining options. These are wonderful reasons to visit beautiful Ronda but mostly people come for the views.
You can read all about them and see our photos on our guide to Ronda for this week’s Farawaway Files.
About Faraway Files
Faraway Files is a weekly travel link up hosted by Katy from Untold Morsels, Erin from Oregon Girl around the World, Clare from Suitcases and Sandcastles, Corey from Fifi+Hop and Hilary from HilaryStyle
Faraway Files is a weekly file of the best travel ideas on the web. We want to dream of faraway places, make new travel plans and share our travel secrets.
Inspire us to travel to new places or revisit a place we thought we knew. We know that you can feel faraway even when you’re close to home so share your experiences of travels near and far wherever you are in the world.
We’d love you to join us in building a supportive community who will inspire and share each other’s posts. All three hosts will try to read and comment on every post and we’ll share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favourites and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.
How it works
✪ The link up will go live every Thursday at 8am, UK time, until midnight on Friday. It will alternate between Untold Morsels, Suitcases and Sandcastles, Oregon Girl Around the World, HilaryStyle and FiFi+Hop.
✪ This week I’m hosting the linkup so add a travel-related post in the section below, then add the Faraway Files badge available below to your blog or link back to the hosts.
✪ Link ups work best if everyone shares so please comment on the hosts’ posts and at least one other.
