Isn’t this room magnificent?

It is the Reading Room at the State Library of Victoria and just a few train stops from where we live in Melbourne. The photo doesn’t really do it justice because there is a huge dome overhead.

Anyone can go and use the library and these facilities for free! And there are always interesting art and history exhibitions in the galleries.

It’s been lovely exploring these monuments of my home town as we settle back into life in Australia.

But… I’m starting to get itchy feet. Our trip to Japan cannot come quickly enough!

Where are you off to next?

Thanks to everyone who joined our Faraway Files link up last week hosted by Hilary and Clare. Their favourites were:

Hilary loved:

iceland summer trip

One place I am dreaming of is Iceland.

Ever since some bright spark created the brilliant stopover deal there for people traveling from the US to Europe, incredible images of this remote country have

I suffer from REALLY bad circulation (2 cases of mild hypothermia included) so a trip there in winter would be a huge challenge. But having researched the summer activities I now think it is the best time to go – even if it does mean missing the Northern Lights.

You can read all about Iceland in summer here.

About Faraway Files

Faraway Files is a weekly travel link up hosted by Katy from Untold Morsels, Erin from Oregon Girl around the World, Clare from Suitcases and Sandcastles, Corey from Fifi+Hop and Hilary from HilaryStyle

Faraway Files is a weekly file of the best travel ideas on the web. We want to dream of faraway places, make new travel plans and share our travel secrets.

Inspire us to travel to new places or revisit a place we thought we knew. We know that you can feel faraway even when you’re close to home so share your experiences of travels near and far wherever you are in the world.

We’d love you to join us in building a supportive community who will inspire and share each other’s posts. All three hosts will try to read and comment on every post and we’ll share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favourites and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.

How it works

✪ The link up will go live every Thursday at 8am, UK time, until midnight on Friday. It will alternate between Untold Morsels, Suitcases and Sandcastles, Oregon Girl Around the World, HilaryStyle and FiFi+Hop.

✪ This week I’m hosting the linkup so add a travel-related post in the section below, then add the Faraway Files badge available below to your blog or link back to the hosts.

✪ Link ups work best if everyone shares so please comment on the hosts’ posts and at least one other.

✪ Tweet us your posts @suitandsand, @UntoldMorsels, @oregongirlworld, @fifiandhop and @hilarystyleme using the hashtag #FarawayFiles and we’ll retweet to our followers
