I like to think I am someone who makes the most of opportunities that come my way. And lately an opportunity came up that was so good it was impossible to forgo.
London has been home for over three years now and one of the things I miss the most is spending time with my amazing group of friends in Melbourne. So when lovely Lu told me she was going to be in Italy and in roughly the same region as us at the same time we were there, I just had to make sure we met up somehow.
We were pinching ourselves at how surreal it was to see each other in Tuscany for lunch like, you know, we do that all the time.. ha! It was a beautiful afternoon spent chatting and catching up with the perfect background of the southern Tuscan countryside as our backdrop.
Thanks to everyone who joined our Faraway Files link up last week. My favourites were a mixed bunch:
Catherine’s post about adventurous teenage palates in Amsterdam made me hope my two grow up to be budding foodies too
Small but packing a big punch, Plovdiv delivered the good for Lori and now I’m intrigued to visit too
Revisiting favourite places and those you think you might not have given a change was the theme of Amy’s thought provoking post.
Just before our memorable lunch we stopped off in the picturesque town of Pienza. Built by a pope in the 15th century, apart from the arresting views of the Val D’Orcia, the town is ridiculously pretty in itself. I hope you enjoy reading about Pienza in this week’s Faraway Files.
About Faraway Files
Faraway Files is a weekly file of the best travel ideas on the web. We want to dream of faraway places, make new travel plans and share our travel secrets. Inspire us to travel to new places or revisit a place we thought we knew. We know that you can feel faraway even when you’re close to home so share your experiences of travels near and far wherever you are in the world.
We’d love you to join us in building a supportive community who will inspire and share each other’s posts. All three hosts will try to read and comment on every post and we’ll share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favourites and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.
How it works
✪ This week I’m hosting the link up on Untold Morsels so link up a travel-related post and add the Faraway Files badge available below to your blog or link back to the hosts.
✪ Link ups work best if everyone shares so please comment on all three of the hosts’ posts and at least one other.
