Time for a trip announcement! And it’s a big one.

After living in London for three years it is time for our little family to head back home to Australia. We are packing our bags and are leaving this city at the end of the month.

Leaving is always bitter sweet. On the one hand we will miss our European friends and adventures. On the other there are new destinations to explore and more time spent with our family and friends. Sorry to anyone who was hoping their London “hotel” was going to be open a little longer!

But first.. a detour

Before we take the epic journey down south we are making one last trip to Italy. Of course! This time our destination is magnificent Rome after a short stop with relatives in Milan. After we’ve conquered the Italian capital we are headed to Andalusia in Spain hoping to uncover some of its secrets.

I’m taking a little break from hosting Faraway Files while we move continents but will be popping in with posts when I can. Hosting duties will resume in late November from beautiful Melbourne, Australia – my beloved home town.

Thanks to everyone who joined our first anniversary Faraway Files link up last week. My favourites were a mix of stories and scenery:

Sol shared a fascinating Moscow museum exploring a time when people went to extraordinary lengths to listen to their preferred genre of music.

I loved seeing New Zealand’s beautiful Mount Cook National Park through Jacki’s eyes

Lastly, if you’ve ever driven in Italy, Shelley’s account of the guido’s on the road was hilarious and devastatingly accurate

Cerkev Marije Zdravja Piran

Sometimes you visit places quickly on your travels and wish you’d lingered longer. This was certainly true of a tiny town in Slovenia we visited in September.

Sitting on the Adriatic Sea between Italy and Croatia, Piran borrows from its Venetian past but has a soul of its own. I’m sharing this beautiful city on this week’s Faraway Files.

About Faraway Files

Faraway Files is a weekly travel link up hosted by Katy from Untold Morsels, Erin from Oregon Girl around the World and Clare from Suitcases and Sandcastles.

Faraway Files is a weekly file of the best travel ideas on the web. We want to dream of faraway places, make new travel plans and share our travel secrets. Inspire us to travel to new places or revisit a place we thought we knew. We know that you can feel faraway even when you’re close to home so share your experiences of travels near and far wherever you are in the world.

We’d love you to join us in building a supportive community who will inspire and share each other’s posts. All three hosts will try to read and comment on every post and we’ll share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favourites and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.

How it works

✪ The link up will go live every Thursday at 8am, UK time, until midnight on Friday. It will alternate between Untold Morsels, Suitcases and Sandcastles and Oregon Girl Around the World.

✪ This week I’m hosting the link up on Untold Morsels so link up a travel-related post and add the Faraway Files badge available below to your blog or link back to the hosts.

✪ Link ups work best if everyone shares so please comment on all three of the hosts’ posts and at least one other.

✪ Tweet us your posts (@suitandsand, @UntoldMorsels, @oregongirlworld) using the hashtag #FarawayFiles and we’ll retweet to our followers

I hope the move goes smoothly for you. It was lovely to meet you on board MSC Preziosa and I hope we get to see one another again one day,
